City of HoschtonIt was in the year of 1865 that three pioneer spirited brothers, J.R., R.A., and William Hosch, for whom the city was named, built the first store at the cross roads where the J.E. Hill home now stands. This home was later bought by Dr. L.C. Allen and son M.B. Allen and served as the Allen's Clinic and Hospital. When the Hosch Brothers opened their store there was none nearer than D.R. Lyle at Mulberry and J.N. Thompson at Thompson's Mill. Other stores were soon to follow: W.T. Sell & W.B. McCant's, W.T. Shaw, DeLaPerriere's Store and many more.
